Last night's first training session was a productive workout for those in attendance. After a quick warm-up the group performed a few core strength exercises with a partner, then worked briefly on stance before drilling hand fighting, various leg attacks, and finishes from a sweep single and crackdown position. After drilling some upper body throws, and a few minutes of live wrestling they hit the weightroom for a series of rows, high pulls, hang cleans, snatch, and push presses. A separate group did supersets of deadlifts and squats followed by leg curls and/ or a progression of box jumps with a weighted vest. Then it was back on the mats for more drilling on individual needs, such as sets ups, scoring with the front head lock....etc, and more live wrestling.
The group met and talked about future workouts and did some story-telling as the night concluded with a nice, icy bottle of Gatorade. Good start guys.
